Because pets age quicker than humans, major health changes can occur in a short amount of time. The risk of disease such as osteoarthritis, heart disease, kidney disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, dental disease and other serious conditions all increase with age.
• Pets age on average up to seven times faster than humans.
• By the age of 2, most pets have already reached adulthood.
• By age 4, many pets are entering middle age.
• By age 7, many dogs, particularly larger breeds, are entering their senior years.
With advancing veterinary care our pets are now living longer than ever. However, chances are that many may experience a potentially serious illness during their lifetime.
