Puppy Preschool is a four-week training and socialisation course designed for puppies between 7 and 12 weeks of age.
Puppies need only to have had their first vaccination and be up to date with worming treatments to qualify.

Our puppy-training program is founded on basic canine learning theory that involves lots of positive reinforcement.
The program focuses on developing the pup–owner–vet relationship from early on to encourage desirable behaviours and a rewarding relationship.
Dogs are conditioned through positive verbal feedback, such as ‘good dog’, and rewards in the form of a game, play or a treat.
We encourage nice, simple commands such as ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘come’ and ‘stay’.
Classes are run by our puppy-loving vet students.
Classes are held at Bedford-Dianella Vet Centre, on Saturdays from 3-4.15pm.
The four-week course comprises 1 x 60-minute lesson per week, for puppies aged 6 to 14 weeks.
Class sizes are limited to between four and eight puppies to encourage maximum participation in each class.
Course payment of $170 (including GST) to be paid at the time of booking.
All puppies receive an Adaptil Junior calming behaviour collar to wear throughout the course period.
We recommend family involvement in dog training.
Attendance by children over the age of five is encouraged.
If you require any more than two spaces in class, please notify the staff when you make your booking and we will accommodate you whenever we can.
Before qualifying for preschool, your puppy needs to be:
We understand that puppies will be at different stages of vaccination depending on their age. However, puppies over 6 weeks of age should have received their first vaccination. Those over 10 weeks should have received their second vaccination and puppies 14 weeks and older should have received their third and final vaccination for the year.
Puppies should be wormed every two weeks until they are 12 weeks old, and then monthly until six months old. Thereafter they should be wormed every three months.
Plus we recommend puppies enrolling into preschool are:
hungry – don’t feed them after lunchtime on the evening of class, as we provide training treats and rewards
on a flat collar and lead.
At the end of the course your puppy should:
respond positively to its name
greet people politely
sit on cue
be safely handled by family members
come when called
lie down on cue
walk comfortably on a lead without pulling
be socialised with other dogs, children and adults.
At the end of the course you, the owner should be able to:
understand leadership skills
apply reward-based puppy training
effectively restrain and examine your puppy
enjoy grooming and bathing your pooch
apply house rules
receive help for common puppy challenges such as toilet training, biting, digging and anxiety
understand basic health care, parasite control, nutrition, desexing and vaccinations
know basic first aid skills
