Pets are more likely to show pain by withdrawing from their usual activities with the family, changing their eating habits or becoming bad tempered.
Indicators of pain include:
limping
having difficulty with steps or getting in and out of vehicles
a ‘tense’ facial expression
panting
salivating
altered sleeping position
changed eating habits
weight loss or weight gain
constantly licking an area
dull or matted coat, especially in cats
a generally bad temper, or snapping when touched in some areas
